It was at S77 that the Film & Video Show became an official conference event, held in a hotel ballroom. Steve Levine, conference chair, gave DeFanti a proper budget for AV staff and equipment. It was called the 1977 Media Spectacular because of the great AV — which forever changed the caliber of SIGGRAPH conferences. Again, people brought their works, and the AV staff, headed by Phil Morton, queued them up and showed them.
